If you're looking to offer discounts to customers who sign up for multiple classes or sign up multiple siblings, there are a few ways to set this up in Sawyer. Depending on what you want to prioritize and how you want the discount to work (if the discount is on the additional classes, if it's stackable, what classes are eligible, etc), take a look at the options below to determine the best solution for your business:
First, refer to these explanations of the three discount options in Sawyer:
- Auto Discounts: Auto Discounts are automatically applied to eligible items at the cart level. Customers will see the discounts in the cart.
- Sibling Discounts: Sibling Discounts allow you to have a percentage discount automatically apply when siblings sign up for the exact same scheduled activity (the activity, date(s) and pricing type must all be the same)
- Coupon codes: Coupon Codes have many parameters that can be set to fit your needs. Once a coupon code is set up, customers will need to be told to enter the code at checkout.
Next, here are some discount scenarios and how to set them up in Sawyer.
Sibling Discounts:
- If siblings must sign up for the same scheduled activity, you'll want to set up the sibling discount option in Step 3 of a scheduled activity. This must be listed as a percentage, so if you have a dollar amount in mind, calculate what the percentage would be and enter that in. For instructions on how to set this up, refer to this help article.
- If siblings do not have to sign up for the same activity to be eligible for the discount, you can either use Auto Discounts or Coupon Codes.
- Using Auto Discounts: Since Auto Discounts apply at the cart level, you'll want to think about the discount amount and confirm how you want the discount to apply. If you were thinking of offering 5% off for the second sibling, consider what that would be as a dollar amount and you can use the fixed amount option for the Auto Discount. To set up an Auto Discount, refer to our help article.
- Using a Coupon Code: Similar to Auto Discounts, Coupon Codes only apply at the cart level so you'll want to think through how you want the discount to apply. For example, if you're offering a fixed amount discount instead of a percentage, you may want to select the option for the coupon to apply to order instead of applying to each item. You also can add a minimum order total or other applicable parameters to help ensure the discount is used properly. You could publicly list this discount code for customers to use, or let customers know to inquire with you to receive the code. For more information and steps to set this up, refer to our help article.
Multi-Class Discount:
- Using Auto Discounts (recommended): Since Auto Discounts apply at the cart level, you'll want to think about the discount amount and confirm how you want the discount to apply. If you were thinking of offering 5% off a second class, consider what that would be as a dollar amount and you can use the fixed amount option for the Auto Discount. You can turn on the option for the discount to apply uniquely per registrant so that the discount will only apply if an individual registrant or child meets the qualifications.
For more information and steps to set this up, refer to our help article.
Notes:
Only one Auto Discount or Coupon Code can be applied per order, but a Coupon Code and Sibling Discount would stack on top of an Auto Discount (if the cart items qualify). If you don't want discounts to stack on top of each other, set up the discounts to all be the same type (Auto Discounts or Coupons).
