šŸ“ Overview

Auto discounts automatically apply to eligible items at the cart level when customers meet set criteria. Customers see the discounts in their cart before checkout and do not need to enter a coupon code. This feature helps you offer consistent discounts that apply across multiple items without requiring customer action.

āš ļø Auto discounts are only applied at checkout for the initial payment and do not apply to upcoming or recurring payments.

šŸ› ļø How to Create an Auto Discount

  1. Go to Financials and then select Auto Discounts.

  2. Click New Discount in the middle of the screen.

  3. Select either Percentage (discount a percentage of eligible items) or Fixed Amount (discount a set dollar amount).

  4. Enter a Discount Name for internal use only. You cannot edit this name after saving, so choose something clear and descriptive.

  5. Choose the Booking Type the discount applies to (Drop-Ins or Semester—create separate auto discounts if you need both).

    • Then select the Activities that qualify for this discount.

    • If you have multiple locations or semesters running at the same time, specify which Schedules should offer this discount (this is optional).

    • Toggle the Apply Uniquely Per Registrant switch if you want the discount to apply per registrant or child instead of to the entire cart. By default, it applies to a user's entire cart. ā„¹ļø If you enable this, parents booking for multiple registrants will need to add the correct number of qualifying items per student to receive the discount.

  6. Enter the minimum and maximum number of qualifying items a customer needs to purchase to receive the discount. You can create tiered discounts.

For example, 10% off one camp, 20% off two camps, and 30% off three or more camps. If you select "or more" in the maximum field, the discount applies to all orders meeting or exceeding the minimum.

  7. Review the Summary section to preview your discount configuration, then click Save to activate the discount.

šŸ’” How Auto Discounts Work

šŸ”µ Discount Application

  • Only one auto discount applies per order. If you have multiple auto discounts set up, you choose the order they're checked—the system applies the first discount it finds a match for, then stops.

  • If you want to control which discount applies first, you can rank them by priority.

šŸ”µ Discount Stacking

  • Auto discounts can stack with Sibling Discounts and Coupon Codes, which are applied after the auto discount.

  • For example, a customer could receive an auto discount, a sibling discount, and then a coupon code on the same order.

šŸ”µ Pricing Behavior

  • If a discount amount exceeds the item price, the discount only covers what remains. For example, if a cart qualifies for a $100 discount but an item costs $75, only $75 is discounted, and that item's total shows $0.00.

🧠 Examples of Auto Discount Types

šŸ”µ Fixed Discount

When to use: To discount a fixed dollar amount based on purchase quantity.

Example scenarios:

  • Discount $10 when a customer purchases any 2 items

  • Discount $20 when a customer purchases 2 weeks of camps

šŸ”µ Percentage Discount

When to use: To discount a percentage from the total of eligible items.

Example scenarios:

  • Automatically apply 10% off to all qualifying items in the cart

  • Offer 20% off when a customer purchases any 2 semesters

  • Offer 10% off when a customer purchases any 3 camps

ā“ Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions or additional details that may not be covered in the main instructions.

How many auto discounts can I set up?

Click the arrow to see the answer

You can set up as many auto discounts as you need. However, only one auto discount applies per order. The system checks your auto discounts in the order you set, and applies the first one the cart qualifies for.

Can I change the discount name after I save it?

Click the arrow to see the answer

No. The discount name cannot be edited after you save. If you need a different name, you'll need to create a new auto discount.

What happens if an auto discount is greater than the item price?

Click the arrow to see the answer

The discount only covers what remains. For example, if a cart qualifies for a $100 discount but an item costs $75, the discount covers $75 and that item's total displays as $0.00. The remaining $25 of the discount is not carried over to other items.

Do auto discounts work with sibling or coupon code discounts?

Click the arrow to see the answer

Yes. Auto discounts can stack with Sibling Discounts and Coupon Codes. The auto discount applies first, then sibling and coupon discounts are applied to eligible items afterward.

Can auto discounts be applied retroactively to past orders?

Click the arrow to see the answer

No. Auto discounts only apply to new orders placed after the discount is created. Past orders are not affected.

What if a customer cancels one item after a discount was applied?

Click the arrow to see the answer

If a customer's cart no longer qualifies for the auto discount after a cancellation, the discount is removed and they're only charged for remaining items at full price.

Can I set an auto discount to apply only to certain customer types?

Click the arrow to see the answer

No. Auto discounts apply based on the items purchased and quantity, not customer type. If you need customer-specific discounts, use Coupon Codes instead.
