Coupons let you offer discounts and promotional pricing to your customers at checkout. Whether youāre running a seasonal promotion, offering a loyalty discount, or encouraging new sign-ups, coupons give you a flexible way to manage pricing and encourage enrollment.
š ļø Steps to Create a Coupon
Learn how to create a coupon from scratch.
Navigate to Financials and then select Coupons.
Click New Coupon in the upper right corner.
A dialog box will open and you will need to fill out all fields. If you need assistance understanding a specific field, please see the helpful definitions sections below.
Click Create Coupon.
š Helpful Definitions
Learn what each coupon restriction does before you set up your coupon.
Total Redemptions: Limits the number of times a coupon can be used in total, not just by a single customer. Leave this field empty for unlimited. Example: āFirst 40 signups receive 10% off their order.ā
Max Per Customer: Limits the number of times a single customer can use the coupon. Enter zero for unlimited.
Number of eligible items per order: By default, coupons apply once to each item in the cart. For example, a 20% coupon takes 20% off each unique item, and a $20 coupon takes $20 off each unique item. To apply the discount to only one item, enter ā1.ā Enter zero for unlimited. Note: adding multiple siblings to one scheduled activity still counts as one item.
First time customers only: Limits the coupon to customers who are not already in your Client List. Note: this applies once per email, not per student.
Apply to order instead of each item: By default, coupons apply to each cart item. Select this option to apply the discount to the order total instead. Example: To offer $5 off the total, select this option so the coupon takes $5 off the total instead of $5 off each item.
Minimum order total: Limits the coupon to orders with a checkout total of at least this amount.
Last Day to Use: Limits the coupon to orders placed before this date. Example: early bird discounts. Note: coupons expire at 11:59 EST the night before the expiration date.
Eligibility Fields: Customize your coupon to work for specific activities, locations, booking types, and memberships.
š Additional Settings for Recurring Payment Plans
Learn how coupons apply to installments on recurring payment plans.
In the coupon editor, youāll find an option for how a coupon applies to recurring payment plans. The discount can apply to all installments or only the first.
All new coupons default to Apply to all installments.
All existing coupons were set to this default.

This setting only applies to recurring payment plans.
This option always appears in the coupon editor, even if you donāt use recurring payment plans. You can disregard it if you donāt use this feature.
This setting does not affect discounts on any other items.

This is the default setting. It works similarly to how coupons work with semester or camp payment plans. The discount applies to the total and is distributed proportionately across the installments.
š§ Example: $100 per booking, 5 total bookings. Month 1 is $300, Month 2 is $200, and the total is $500 before the discount.
Percentage coupon (50% off all installments): Month 1 is $150, Month 2 is $100, and the total is $250.
Fixed amount coupon ($100 off): Month 1 is $240 ($60 off), Month 2 is $160 ($40 off), and the total is $400 ($100 off). Another way to see it: $100 off $500 leaves $400, and with 5 bookings, the new per-booking price is $80.

This setting works similarly to semester monthly pricing. The discount applies only to the first month, which is due at checkout, and later months are charged at full price. This is a great way to offer introductory discounts and promotions.

Percentage coupon (50% off the first installment): Month 1 is $150, Month 2 is $200, and the total is $350 ($150 off).
Fixed amount coupon ($100 off the first installment): Month 1 is $200 ($100 off), Month 2 is $200, and the total is $400 ($100 off).
If the couponās value is greater than the first monthās total, the extra value does not apply to later months. If other items are in the cart, the remaining value applies to those items.

Cart: A short description appears showing how the coupon applies.
Order confirmation email: The email shows the coupon name and the discounted amount, but not the coupon type.
Order page: This page mirrors the cart details and shows which type of coupon was used.
š§ Steps to Edit a Coupon
After a coupon code is created, the coupon itself canāt be edited. However, you can replace it with a new coupon that uses the same code. To change the restrictions for a promo code, make the current coupon inactive and create a new coupon with the same code.
Click the coupon code you want to change.
At the bottom of the page, click Make Inactive and confirm.
Click New Coupon.
Enter the same coupon code and add the coupon restrictions.
Click Save.

Can I edit a coupon after creating it?

No. Once a coupon is created, its settings canāt be changed. To update it, make the current coupon inactive and create a new coupon with the same code and the updated restrictions.
What happens to a percentage coupon on a payment plan with add-ons?

A customer canāt apply a percentage coupon to an order that has a payment plan with an optional add-on or a required fee. The coupon will not apply to the add-ons.
