Sawyer partners with Stripe to file 1099 tax forms that summarize your earnings and sales activity. Stripe Express is the platform you'll use to confirm your tax information, enable e-delivery, and download your forms when they're ready.

You will receive a 1099 if your business meets all of the following criteria:

  • Your account is based in the United States (owners do not need to be US citizens), or your non-US account is for a US taxpayer

  • More than $20,000 USD in total gross volume*

  • More than 200 transactions

📅 Key Dates for Tax Year 2026

Stay on top of important deadlines to make sure your tax information is accurate and your forms are delivered on time.

  • November 3, 2026 – January 15, 2027: Confirm your tax information (name, address, SSN or EIN) is correct via Stripe Express. Enable e-delivery if you haven't done so already.

  • By January 22, 2027: Sawyer will file your 1099 tax form with the IRS and relevant state tax authorities.

  • By January 31, 2027: Your 1099 tax form will be available to download via Stripe Express.

  • By February 13, 2027: The last day that identity updates will automatically sync onto 1099 tax form drafts for tax year 2026.

⚠️ Make sure your tax information is updated no later than January 15, 2027. If you update after this date, you can still download your 1099 electronically, but a new paper copy will not be mailed to you.

What is Stripe Express, and how do I access it?

Stripe Express allows you to update your tax information, download your tax forms, and track your earnings.

Stripe will send an initial email in November (titled "Get Your Sawyer Tools 2026 Tax Forms Faster by Enabling E-delivery") which will allow you to log into your Stripe Express account.

I earned enough to need a 1099 form in 2026. Why haven't I received an email from Stripe?

If you earned enough to need a 1099 form in 2026, you should have received an email from Stripe between November 3, 2026 and mid-January 2027.

If you can't find the email, check the following:

  • Spam or junk folder — Search your inbox for an email titled "Get Your Sawyer Tools 2026 Tax Forms Faster by Enabling E-delivery."

  • Correct email address — Check the email first associated with your Sawyer account. You can also log in, select the profile button in the upper right corner, and go to Users & Permissions to see what other owner or admin emails are associated with your account.

  • Email issues — The email address associated with your account may be incorrect, missing, or unable to receive mail.

  • Ownership changes — If your business admin or ownership has changed, you may need to update to a new member. Review the current settings under your Banking Details page.
