You may have noticed updates to some terminology throughout Sawyer regarding who is participating. These improvements have been made to allow easier registration for adults as well as improve the registration process for more than one family member.
Customers will now be able to register multiple adults for an adult only or mixed age activity. This means, you will see “client” and “participant” in some of the places you used to see “child” or “adult”.
Up until now, the Sawyer booking experience has been geared towards "child" registrations. With these improvements, non-child participants, whether it's multiple adults or a combo of children and adult(s), can register all at one time! There can be multiple adults and multiple children listed on one primary client account to make the registration process that much easier!
Although nothing has changed regarding client registration, “participants” can now be added when signing up for activities.
To get familiar, here is a quick rundown of the new, flexible terminology you will see throughout the registration process:

Client: The primary account profile (associated with the customer’s email address).
- The client is the primary account that can have multiple Adult and/or Child profiles attached to it.
- Child: An account profile for children (under the age of 18) created under the primary client account profile.

Adult / Child and Adult: An account profile for participants over the age of 18 created under the primary account profile.
- It’s important to know that “Adults” could also include/refer to the Client when it comes to the type of registration allowed for an activity.
- Participant: Anyone (Client, Adult, or Child) that is being registered to an activity.
You can register multiple children, children and adults, client and participants, and now more seamlessly, you can register multiple adults!
Here are some examples of different combinations of participants who can register:
Adults only: Client + Adult Participants
Mixed Registration:
- Client + child participants
- Client + adult participants
- Adult participant(s)(non client) + child participant(s)
Child Registration: Child participants only
Please note:
- Clients cannot register themselves for an appointment but they can register another person on their account
- Reports specific to adult activities are not included in this release nor will there be changes to existing report column names.
Most importantly, your customers will have a smooth and easy experience booking an adults only class or booking multiple family members at once!

Memberships
You will now have the ability to display generic membership terminology throughout your website and purchase flows (for your clients). There is a new setting on the General Settings page called "Adult Memberships" that you can enable to update adult language in memberships.
