Reporting Dashboards 2.0 - Workbook Definitions

Learn how workbook data is structured in Reporting Dashboards 2.0, including field definitions, data calculations, and how fields compare to legacy reporting options.

Written by Dana Browne

📝 Overview

Reporting Dashboards 2.0 introduces improved analytics functionality with new data sets and visualizations. This guide explains the underlying data structure you'll encounter as you explore the dashboards.

Each dashboard page or tab is called a workbook. Within each workbook, you'll see data tables containing multiple columns and filtering options. While many data fields exist in legacy reporting options, the calculations and output may differ from those previous reports. These dashboards offer additional data insights not previously included, which means you may notice discrepancies when comparing metrics across different reporting versions.

To understand the specific fields and calculations used in each workbook, we've created a resource guide here that provides:

  • Detailed explanation of each data set

  • Column definitions and purposes

  • Sample data showing how different fields display

🔍 Understanding Workbook Data

Learn how to interpret the data in your dashboards.

📊 Data Fields & Calculations

All workbooks contain standardized fields, though the specific columns vary by report type. The resource guide here provides a line of sample data for each unique report so you can see exactly how fields will display in your workbooks.

While many data fields exist across both legacy and V2 reporting, the calculations or output may not match. The new dashboards offer additional data insights that were not previously included. If you notice differences when comparing reporting metrics across versions, this is expected. Refer to the field definitions in the resource guide to understand which formula or logic applies to each field.

🔑 Filtering & Exploration

Each workbook includes available filtering options to help you focus on the data most relevant to your analysis. For detailed guidance on filtering, transforming data, and exporting workbooks, see our Reporting Dashboards 2.0 Exploration Guide.

🔄 Beta Access & V1 Restore

Currently, Reporting Dashboards 2.0 is available as a beta feature. If you experience any issues while exploring the new reporting features, you can restore the previous version.

To turn off beta access:

  1. Open your Sawyer account

  2. Navigate to Settings

  3. Locate the dashboards or reporting section

  4. Turn off the new beta access option

This will restore V1 of your dashboards while the team continues improving V2.

🚀 What's Coming

While Reporting Dashboards 2.0 represents an exciting first step toward improved reporting functionality, this is phase one, not the final version. The team has plans to add additional views and exports over time as improvements continue and community feedback is incorporated.
